Location

The Algarve Veterans Football Festival is played close to Albufeira and Vilamoura and approximately 35 minutes from Faro airport. The event is held on good standard pitches in the grounds of, or close to, the Victoria Sports and Beach Resort, located next to the excellent 8 mile sandy beach of Praia de Falesia.

Albufeira is the busiest resort on the Algarve and has a very lively nightlife scene centred on the Old Town and 'the strip'. Albufeira is approximately 15 minutes from Falesia.

Vilamoura is the sporting capital of Portugal and is well known for it's international standard golf courses. The resort's busy marina is surrounded by a huge range of restaurants, bars, luxury hotels, designer shops and casino. You can reach the resort in 15 minutes with transport, or via a 45 minute walk on the glorious sandy beach of Falesia. Â Â

The Algarve's seemingly endless coastline includes some of Europe's best beaches and watersports facilities, and is home to some Â of the world's finest golf courses. When the sun goes down you'll find the busy resorts of Albufeira and Vilamoura are just a few minutes away.

The 4* Victoria Sports and Beach and 4*+ Patio Suite Hotel will host our teams in 2024.

Outline Itinerary

Thursday	Optional arrival day.Â
FridayÂ Â	Meet and Greet at Faro Airport. A 35 minute transfer to the 4* Victoria Sports and Beach or the nearby 4*+ Patio Suite Hotel. Relax by the pool or head down to the fabulous Falesia beach and it's bars.Â Â Rest of day and evening at leisure. Â
Saturday / Sunday	The ISL Algarve Veterans Football Tournaments, kick-off around 10am. In between games there's time to relax by the beach or pool. After the football there's the Trophy PresentationsÂ and 'Happy Hour'.
Saturday / Sunday	Free timeÂ for relaxation, sunbathing, sightseeing. If you're still feeling activeÂ play a round of golf on an international standard course. Albufeira and Vilamoura are popular options today.
Monday	Return to Faro Airport for your return flight to the UK, you can also extend your stay (before or after your tour) at extra cost.
Tuesday	Optional departure day.

One airport transfer from /to Faro Airport is provided in each direction.Â

Additionally we will include extra airport transfers for groups of 6 or more.

Shared transfers for individuals with other teams on same flights may be available.

Accommodation

For 2024 we will be featuring the 4* Victoria Sports and Beach and the nearby 4*+ Patio Suite Hotel, both located next or near to the main football venue and the glorious 8 mile sandy beach at Falesia, between Albufeira and Vilamoura.

All teams and players must take an accommodation package as a condition of entry to the Algarve Veterans Football Festival.

The Victoria Sports and Beach is in an impressive location surrounded by Pine Trees, and just a few minutes walk from one of the Algarve's finest beaches.Â

The hotel has a poolside bar and snack bar, restaurant and lounge area.

The hotel is located with a few bars and restaurants nearby and with easy access to Albufeira and Vilamoura.Â Â

Good quality grass pitches are available within the Victoria Sports and BeachÂ grounds, and nearby.Â Â

The sport and leisure facilities at the hotel include good standard football pitches, outdoor pool, tennis courts and golf courses nearby.

Other facilities include track and field athletics, padel courts, gymnasium, fitness centre, jacuzzi, sauna, massage (charges may apply).

The Patio Suite is a superior 4* hotel located a 10 minute walk from the tournament venue.

The hotel is located in Acoteias, near to glorious Falesia Beach and the fishing village of Olhos de Agua, and just 15 minutes from Albufeira and Vilamoura.

Football

Â Â Â Â

The Algarve Veterans 35+ Football Tournament is an 11 a side competition and will beÂ played on Saturday 21st September 2024 on professional standard grass pitches.Â Games will be 1 x 25 or 1 x 30 minutes andÂ teams will play minimum 4 games, maximum 6 games, depending on format.

The Algarve Veterans 7s 35+, the Algarve Veterans 45+, and the Algarve Super Veterans 55+ Football Tournaments are 7 a side competitions played on Sunday 22nd, Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th September 2024 respectively, on smaller pitches with smaller goals at the same location. Between games there will be time to cool off in the hotel pool.

Trophy Presentation and Happy Hour

Following the football is the Trophy Presentation and Happy Hour, pitchside at Victoria Sport and Beach.

Team and Individual trophies are presented including Winners, Runners up, Fair Play, Wooden Spoon, Golden Boot and Golden Glove. An occassional surprise award too!

Free beer and pizza are included. You're welcome to stay until the beer runs out.

Our Opinion

An enjoyable weekend in the Portuguese sunshine before winter sets in. The tournament is played on good quality pitches by the Alfamar hotel and beach, and is followed by the trophy presentation and a very sociable happy hour, or three with the other teams. The Alfamar is beautifully set in a quiet location by the beach, but you're also within easy reach of the nightlife of Albufeira and Vilamoura. Your weekend can be as relaxing or as hectic as you want it to be.
